Watch gorilla mother Imani lay eyes on her baby girl for the first time.

Thanks to the talent and dedication of our staff and specialists from the UC San Diego Health System for working tirelessly around-the-clock to save this little one. Her strength inspires us. 
Wonderful news! Imani’s baby girl has completed her treatment for pneumonia and is showing great improvement. She’s even bottle-feeding now.

She’s a fighter.

Imani’s baby girl underwent a procedure on Friday to fix a collapsed lung. Thanks to the expertise of our staff, aided by a human neonatal specialist and an anesthesiologist from UC San Diego Health System, the procedure was a success and she is breathing better on her own. More info.

UPDATE: Imani’s baby girl is still in guarded condition, and under constant care. In case you’re wondering about the cute blue “cap” she wears, it was made by our creative veterinarians from bandage material to help her regulate body temperature. Watch the video
